A Kmart fan’s “genius” $6 hack for storing rolls of wrapping paper has gone viral.

Sharing on a popular Facebook group, customer Anne said she found a storage solution for the “tricky” items using an unlikely buy.

The savvy shopper used the store’s 60cm Black Metal Pot Stand – which retails for just $6 – to hold her rolls of wrapping paper.

Anne said the homeware buy holds six to seven rolls of gift wrap, and adding a simple cardboard base to the plant stand means the whole thing can be moved from room to room.

The hack means the Kmart shopper never has to deal with the mess of having wrapping paper lying around, and also stops the rolls from getting damaged.

“Taming the Christmas wrap rolls finally after many years of mess,” said Anne on the Kmart Hacks & Decor Facebook page.

“I taped a round piece of cardboard to the bottom so I can move it if I need.”

Thousands of Kmart fans reacted to Anne’s post, describing her hack as one of the best they’d seen.

“Best, cheapest and easiest hack I’ve seen for a long time,” said one.

Added another: “Brilliant hack. And pop it inside the wardrobe when not in use. I’m doing this.”

Wrote a third: “Excellent! Definitely need to get one now!”

Said one more: “You are a bloody genius.”
