Mahisa Packaging Systems has achieved a milestone in the installation of 100 Speedpack gluing machines in the Indian market. Speedpack is a semi-automatic continuous two-part gluing machine and file folder for manual filling of cartons with hot melt adhesive.

Speedpack is a compact device for sealing single boxes of various sizes and high speeds after manual filling of contents. The machine was launched in 2013 and is aimed at users who need to pack about 25,000 cartons per 8-hour shift.

The system operates at a rate of up to 50 cartons per minute. It can be used in masala and spices, ready-to-eat, grains, wire and cable, pharmaceutical companies and other industries.

Parshva Shah, a partner at Mahisa Packaging Systems, said that a single piece of equipment can be used for cartons of different sizes. Therefore, Speedpack can be used to package various SKUs in small batches. Mahisa uses Nordson OneMelt or ProBlue hot melt glue dispensing systems in its equipment according to customer requirements.

Mahisa's Speedpack customers are major food, pharmaceutical and wire and cable companies, including Everest Spices, MDH, Wagh Bakri, Girnar, MTR, Sun Pharma, Alembic Pharma, Hetero Labs, GM Modular, Polycab, etc.

In terms of the outstanding features of the machine, the company claims that Speedpack is "a high-end, high-quality, high-volume, and affordable product." "The hot melt glue dispensing system comes from one of the world's top manufacturers. The building materials and quality are unparalleled," Shah told WhatPackaging?.

The USP of this machine is that it is a compact, low-cost, high-quality equipment that "improves packaging quality and finish to a new level." The company claims that the setup and operation of the equipment is simple, trouble-free, and can be operated by unskilled and semi-skilled workers.

In terms of usability, Speedpack is a very easy-to-use system. "Usually, starting to operate the machine requires very little training. The operator usually only takes three days to reach its maximum capacity. It takes about 15-20 minutes to change the settings of different cartons," Shah claims.

The company provides training services and comprehensive demonstration services for its potential customers in its Mumbai division. Many trainings are also provided to operators via video calls. If necessary, the company also appoints its team for installation and commissioning.

Depending on the application and carton size, the system can be designed for a maximum speed of 60 cartons per minute. Depending on the configuration, the basic price of each machine ranges from Rs 6,25,000 to Rs 8,00,000.

Shah said the system is very reliable except in special circumstances. The first Speedpack it ever sold is still in operation and still proves the quality and durability of the equipment.

Customer satisfaction is another highlight of Mahisa. The company has a team of service personnel in Mumbai, ready to support customers. It also provides on-call and video support to all customers during the pandemic without paying any additional fees, and the company plans to continue to do so.

"If on-site support is required, this is rarely the case in all of our systems. We usually appoint a technician immediately. In this case, we will also try to keep costs to a minimum," Shah concluded.
